Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) has launched derivative contracts in Canada.
Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM) is said to be the first major crypto native platform to offer direct native crypto futures in the country. CFM is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission operating under an international exemption.
Contracts now available include:
- 23 perpetual and dated futures including Bitcoin, ETH and SOL]
- Five commodity futures including Gold, and more
- index futures like COIN50.
Prior to the CFM offering, Canadian investors could only access similar products via lightly regulated venues.
As spot trading is already available, its current and new users will have access to more products. Investors may use derivatives to hedge or speculate – with leverage.
In survey pursued by the Ontario Securities Commission, Coinbase was the top platform in the province.
