ETFBook Secures Series A Funding for US and APAC Business Expansion

Zurich-based ETF data specialist ETFBook has closed a €4 million Series A round led by BlackFin Capital Partners, with participation from former Amundi ETF head Arnaud Llinas. The capital is intended to support product development, talent hiring, and geographic growth into the United States and major Asian markets.

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Switzerland, ETFBook operates a web platform and API suite that supplies institutional users with ETF reference data, fund-flow tracking, performance comparisons, liquidity metrics, and related analytics.

By early 2025 the firm already served more than 35 clients across issuers, index providers, market makers, exchanges, and asset managers, with offices or presence in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Dublin.

Management said the new funds would be used to recruit specialists in product, data science, sales, and marketing.

Priorities include deeper integration of artificial intelligence for workflow automation and predictive insights, broader data coverage that captures both on-exchange and over-the-counter activity, and faster rollout of new modules.

The company also planned to add comparative-performance tools that benchmark funds against the portfolios they seek to replicate.

Geographic expansion formed a core part of the stated strategy.

The United States accounts for the bulk of global ETF assets, while several Asian financial centers have recorded rapid industry growth.

Coverage of U.S.-registered products and leading APAC venues was slated to begin during 2025, alongside efforts to incorporate off-exchange volumes that represent a large share of trading in both Europe and the United States.

Co-founder and CEO Pawel Janus described the investment as the firm’s first external capital and said it would speed execution of the product roadmap and international plans.

BlackFin’s Romain Grimal cited the platform’s robustness and the founding team’s delivery record, noting that the ETF industry continues to attract strong inflows and product launches.

Llinas, who co-invested and serves as an operating partner, emphasized the need for a single, configurable source of market intelligence as weekly ETF launches and shifting investor flows become more complex.

The round occurred against a backdrop of record ETF activity.

Global inflows had reached historic levels, and new products—including active ETFs and digital asset vehicles—were appearing at a high rate.

ETFBook positioned its services as a way for issuers, distributors, and investors to navigate that complexity through daily-updated, multi-source data rather than fragmented public filings.

Subsequent company materials indicate that US coverage has since been added and that the platform now tracks more than 10,000 ETFs across Europe and the United States with T+1 updates.

Hiring activity, including US-focused business-development roles, aligns with the expansion outlined at the time of the raise. The 2025 funding therefore served as the financial foundation for the dual-region growth plan that the firm continues to execute.
