The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Blockchain.com are “exploring” 24/7 trading using tokenized shares. This would include US equities and ETFs. These securities would be made available to investors worldwide.
The agreement is said to include deep market intelligence as the two sides share trading data.
The goal is to give crypto investors access to tokenized shares without having to go through a broker. Crypto markets, if anything, can be highly liquid due to the global nature of trading and the fact there is a global audience. This is what the NYSE envisions enabling for a new legion of securities investors.
Peter Smith, Executive Chairman, CEO, and co-Founder of Blockchain.com, says that tokenized shares are a catalyst for greater economic freedom.
“People shouldn’t be limited in owning stocks based on where they happen to live or the brokerage and information they may or may not have access to. Connecting to the NYSE digital ATS will enable us to extend the opportunity to invest in these digital assets to tens of millions of Blockchain.com users around the world.”
ICE Data Services will provide crypto market data and analytics provided by Blockchain.com, which will support real-time stock data for more than 44 million confirmed accounts .
Blockchain.com mentioned a previous partnership with Ondo Finance that allows for tokenized shares for European investors.
Traditional securities marketplaces and exchanges have long envied crypto trading for its global audience, unrestricted by geographic borders. This is now happening as new technology simplifies and streamlines the listing, trading, and management process.
