DigitalBridge, La Caisse Completes Acquisition of Hyperscale Data Center Firm Yondr

DigitalBridge Group Inc and Canada’s La Caisse have finalized the acquisition of Yondr Group, a global hyperscale data center developer and operator, from Cathexis Holdings, the companies announced.

The move bolsters both investors’ presence in digital infrastructure and strengthens their ability to address the growing demand for AI and cloud-based data services.

The transaction, completed alongside DigitalBridge-managed investment vehicles, places Yondr under joint control of DigitalBridge and La Caisse.

As part of the deal, Aaron Wangenheim has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, while Sandip Mahajan has taken over as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.

Founded in 2018, Yondr builds and operates large-scale data center campuses catering to global technology firms.

It has committed over 420 megawatts (MW) of capacity to hyperscale clients and holds land reserves that could support more than 1 gigawatt (GW) of total capacity.

The company aims to meet surging data needs fueled by digital transformation, AI adoption, and the expansion of cloud infrastructure.

DigitalBridge and La Caisse said the investment supports their long-term partnership in the digital infrastructure sector.

The two firms previously collaborated on investments including the 2019 acquisition of a 30% stake in Vertical Bridge, a major U.S. tower operator, and the 2024 $3.3 billion Vertical Bridge-Verizon tower deal.

“The acquisition of Yondr strengthens our global data center portfolio and reflects our commitment to being a key partner for hyperscale and AI-driven infrastructure,” said Jon Mauck, Senior Managing Director at DigitalBridge.

La Caisse’s Executive Vice-President Emmanuel Jaclot said the investment aligns with its strategy of targeting high-growth infrastructure sectors.

“Yondr represents a compelling platform to deliver scalable, AI-ready digital infrastructure globally,” he added.

Wangenheim, a veteran of T5 Data Centers, will lead Yondr’s growth strategy. Mahajan, formerly CFO at Mitie Group PLC and an infrastructure finance expert, will oversee financial operations.

They succeed Paul Cossell and Chester Reid, who are stepping down from their roles as CEO and CFO, respectively.
