Global investment platform Kraken (Payward) is sharply focused on product development. The crypto exchange has shared key updates that signal deeper integration between crypto and traditional finance, stronger internal product excellence, and tangible user benefits. Announced on March 4, 2026, these developments reinforce the platform’s mission to build resilient, user-first infrastructure in a maturing industry.
The most significant milestone: Kraken Financial, the Wyoming-chartered Special Purpose Depository Institution (SPDI) and subsidiary of Payward, became the first digital asset bank in U.S. history to receive a Federal Reserve master account.
The Federal Reserve master account enables Kraken to directly connect to US payment rails, including Fedwire, without depending on another bank.
Because Kraken Financial operates on a full-reserve model—holding liquid assets equal to or exceeding 100% of client deposits—the master account adds an extra layer of resilience. Customers will benefit from faster and more efficient services while benefiting from lower costs. Kraken said it was beginning a phased rollout focusing on institutions first.
In a blog post, Kraken added:

Arjun Sethi, Co-CEO of Payward and Kraken, described the moment as “the convergence of crypto infrastructure and sovereign financial rails.”
He highlighted future possibilities: atomic settlement between fiat and crypto, institutional-grade cash management paired with digital asset custody, and programmable products—all within a fully regulated framework.
Complementing this external progress is Kraken’s internal dogfooding culture—the practice of employees actively using the products they build with real money in live markets.
