Crowdfund Capital Advisors Creates “Crowdfinance Indices”

Crowdfund Capital Advisors (CCA), a leading consulting and data group that supports online capital formation, has launched a new series of “Crowdfinance Indices.” The benchmarks are updated daily and cover Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF), the smallest securities exemption that enables online capital formation.

These Indices track funds moving into Reg CF offerings, how many investors are participating in the segment of capital formation, and how many companies are raising funds.

The Crowdfinance Indices aggregate the entire population of active issuers.

Sherwood Neiss, Principal and co-Founder of CCA, says that in past years, the investment crowdfunding industry has focused on whether the market was up or down, frequently pointing to whichever deal was hot at the moment.

“The Crowdfinance Indices end that argument. And we didn’t stop at the dollars. Money tells you how much people are willing to risk; the number of investors committing each day tells you whether they’re willing to risk at all, and the number of companies raising tells you how wide the door is open. We’re the only ones who can see all three, every day, across the whole market. That’s the difference between a headline and an instrument — and it’s what lets institutions, policymakers, and entrepreneurs treat crowdfinance as the serious asset class it has become.”

Currently, the CCA Crowdfinance Indices are only available on the home page of the firm’s data reports. The methodology used to build each index, including eligibility, classification, and calculation rules, is published and available on request.
