Global Fintech Adyen Launches Conversational AI and Autonomous Commerce Agentic Solutions

Adyen (AMS: ADYEN), the global financial technology company, has introduced Adyen Agentic, which is described as a new suite of modular APIs built to help businesses sell through conversational AI platforms and autonomous shopping agents without overhauling their existing commerce systems for every new channel.

The launch addresses a growing challenge in the emerging field of agentic commerce, where AI agents increasingly handle product discovery, cart building, and purchases on behalf of consumers.

As more AI platforms and protocols appear, merchants have faced repeated demands to create custom integrations for each one.

Adyen Agentic solves this by acting as a single, open connection layer that lets companies integrate once and reach multiple AI surfaces now and in the future.

The offering consists of three interconnected components that cover the full customer journey in agentic commerce: Agentic Feed supplies structured, real-time product catalog information, pricing, and inventory data that AI agents can easily understand and use across different platforms.

Agentic Cart links AI-generated selections directly into a merchant’s existing checkout, tax calculation, shipping, fulfillment, and order management systems, turning high-intent discovery into ready-to-purchase carts with accurate details.

Agentic Payments handles the secure execution of transactions initiated by AI agents, including authentication, token portability, fraud screening, risk management, and compliance with evolving protocols while preserving the merchant’s role as the primary party in the transaction.

This modular design creates an open ecosystem rather than a closed or platform-specific solution.

Merchants can participate across various conversational AI environments and agentic protocols without betting on which standards will ultimately dominate.

The approach keeps businesses in control of their customer relationships, data, and brand experience.

“Every new agentic surface has historically required merchants to rebuild their integrations from the ground up,” said Karan Katyal, Global Head of Agentic Commerce at Adyen.

“We designed Adyen Agentic as an open infrastructure layer so retailers can connect once and engage across evolving platforms and protocols without having to choose sides or start over each time the ecosystem shifts. The space is moving quickly, and we’re eager to help forward-thinking merchants begin experimenting with agentic commerce today.”

Adyen’s Co-CEO Ingo Uytdehaage emphasized the company’s infrastructure-first strategy, noting that the goal is to provide the foundational tools merchants need rather than forcing them to chase every new AI interface individually.

Industry partners echoed the importance of interoperability and trust. Executives from Mastercard and Visa highlighted that scaling agentic commerce will require built-in security, reliable authentication, and seamless connections across systems from the outset.

At launch, Adyen Agentic is available in limited release to enterprise merchants in the United States.

It supports key protocols including those used by major platforms such as Meta’s AI checkout capabilities and works with standards like UCP, ACP, and AP2.

Broader global availability is planned for later.

By providing a unified, merchant-centric bridge between traditional commerce infrastructure and the fast-growing world of AI agents, Adyen Agentic positions businesses to participate in the next phase of digital shopping while minimizing technical debt and fragmentation. As AI-driven purchasing continues to gain traction, solutions like this are expected to become essential for retailers seeking to stay competitive without always needing constant redevelopment.
