BNPL Fintech Klarna Teams Up with Lululemon in UK and Germany

Klarna (NYSE: KLAR), the digital banking and flexible payments provider, has introduced its services directly inside lululemon stores across the United Kingdom and Germany. Announced on July 22, 2026, this rollout allows shoppers to enjoy the same convenient payment options in physical locations that they have long experienced online, representing a key advancement in Klarna’s strategy to bridge digital and brick-and-mortar shopping experiences.

The process is designed for simplicity. At the checkout counter in participating lululemon outlets, customers can scan a QR code using their smartphone and complete the transaction through the Klarna mobile app.

This eliminates the need for lengthy credit applications while waiting in line or carrying additional payment cards.

Within moments, buyers can opt to divide their purchase into interest-free installments or postpone payment by up to a month, enabling them to acquire desired items without immediate full outlay.

This in-store initiative builds upon a successful five-year collaboration between Klarna and lululemon, during which flexible payment solutions have been available for online purchases.

Extending the partnership to physical retail aligns with broader industry trends, as consumers increasingly seek seamless experiences across channels.

Global in-person spending significantly outpaces e-commerce, with estimates placing annual physical retail transactions at approximately $28 trillion—roughly four times the volume of online purchases.

Klarna’s move underscores its aim to capture a larger share of this massive market by modernizing point-of-sale interactions.

David Sykes, Klarna’s Chief Commercial Officer, said:

“Shopping shouldn’t become less convenient once you step inside a store. After refining online checkouts over several years, we’re now extending that same level of choice and ease to in-person transactions. Customers deserve the ability to pay in the manner that suits them best, whether browsing online or visiting a store in person.”

The integration was facilitated through lululemon’s existing partnership with the Adyen payments platform, ensuring a smooth technical rollout.

Klarna’s availability at lululemon tills is now live in both the UK and Germany, offering activewear enthusiasts greater financial flexibility when purchasing yoga apparel, running gear, training equipment, and lifestyle items.

This expansion reflects Klarna’s ongoing evolution from a primarily online “buy now, pay later” specialist into a comprehensive payments solution for both digital and physical commerce.

By removing traditional barriers at the checkout, the company aims to enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales for retail partners like lululemon, whose premium athletic and lifestyle products appeal to health-conscious consumers seeking quality and convenience.

For lululemon, the collaboration further strengthens its omnichannel approach, allowing it to meet shoppers wherever they prefer to browse and buy.

As consumer expectations continue to shift toward more adaptable payment methods, initiatives like this one highlight how fintech innovations are reshaping traditional retail dynamics. Shoppers in the UK and Germany can now experience enhanced freedom when outfitting themselves for fitness or everyday wear.
