Bitcoin (BTC), Asian Equities, Nasdaq Futures Rise After China GDP Exceeds Growth Forecasts

Risk assets across cryptocurrency markets, Asian equities and US index futures advanced on Monday as China’s latest economic figures came in stronger than anticipated and oil prices eased. The combination helped restore investor confidence after the prior week’s technology-driven declines.

Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization, traded near $82,500.

It had gained 0.7 percent since midnight UTC and stood 1.3 percent higher over the preceding 24 hours.

The move coincided with broader gains in conventional risk assets, reflecting improved sentiment rather than any cryptocurrency-specific catalyst.

Nasdaq futures rose more than 1 percent. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 climbed 1.8 percent while South Korea’s Kospi advanced 0.6 percent.

Chinese equities posted a more modest 0.3 percent gain.

These recoveries followed a difficult prior week in which artificial-intelligence-related shares had led losses across the region and in US futures.

Monday’s advances therefore represented a partial rebound from recent pressure rather than a decisive new breakout.

The primary driver was data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.

Gross domestic product expanded 4.5 percent year-on-year in the third quarter, accelerating from the 4.3 percent pace recorded in the second quarter and exceeding the roughly 4.4 percent median forecast from private surveys.

For the first nine months of 2026 the economy grew 4.6 percent, remaining within the government’s annual target range of 4.5–5.0 percent.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, growth reached 1.2 percent.

Supporting indicators pointed to firmer domestic demand.

Retail sales of consumer goods rose 1.1 percent in September, more than double the expected increase and an improvement from August’s 0.4 percent expansion—the strongest monthly reading since March.

Industrial production above a designated size accelerated to 5.5 percent year-on-year in September, while high-tech manufacturing continued to outpace the broader industrial sector.

Fixed-asset investment, by contrast, declined 7.2 percent in the first nine months, unchanged from the January–August period, underscoring that the recovery remains uneven and still heavily reliant on external demand.

As the world’s second-largest economy and a major importer of industrial commodities, China’s performance frequently shapes global risk appetite.

Stronger-than-expected growth tends to encourage rotation into equities, cryptocurrencies and other cyclical assets because traders interpret the numbers as evidence that underlying demand remains resilient.

A concurrent decline in oil prices provided additional support.

Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate both slipped in early trading after the United States waived certain sanctions and tariffs on Russian energy exports.

The move, linked to ongoing diplomatic efforts and an associated arrangement for increased diesel supplies, raised expectations of greater fuel availability.

Lower energy costs can ease inflationary pressures and, in turn, influence expectations for monetary policy.

In the United States the Federal Reserve was widely anticipated to leave rates unchanged in the 4.75–5 percent range at its upcoming meeting after a recent 25-basis-point increase.Other markets showed more restrained moves.

Gold remained largely unchanged near $4,180 per ounce, and the US Dollar Index held near Friday’s lows below 102.

Volatility gauges appeared to normalize after spiking late the previous week, consistent with historical patterns in which equity markets stabilize following periods of elevated uncertainty.

The synchronized advance across Bitcoin, Asian equities and US index futures highlighted the tight linkages that now exist between traditional finance and digital assets.

A single macroeconomic release can influence pricing across multiple venues within hours, even in the absence of asset-specific news.

Investors will monitor subsequent Chinese data—particularly industrial activity, investment trends and any further policy commentary—along with energy-market developments for signs that the improved risk appetite can persist. For the moment, better-than-forecast Chinese output combined with softer crude prices has shifted the near-term tone toward greater optimism.
