Party, a Brooklyn-based startup that is made up of designers and engineers who experiment with storytelling and technology to create weird and wonderful experiences, recently launched a campaign on crowdfunding giant Kickstarter for a new fun (and adorable) project, Disco Dog vest.
According to its description, Disco Dog is considered the world’s first smartphone controlled LED vest. It displays animated patterns and custom scrolling texts in thousands of colors. Pet owners can choose an animation or type a message using the accompanied smartphone app. The startup notes, “It’s a fun way to celebrate your dog, and also keep her visible and safe when it’s dark out.”
Also noting safety features on the vest, Party added, “If your dog runs too far away and the connection is lost, the vest will show an automatic ‘LOST DOG’ message, asking bystanders to help the lost pup find her way back.”
Other key features include:
- Full RGB LEDs, pick from thousands of colors
- Connects to smartphones through Bluetooth
- Multiple animated models, including sparkle, stripes, firefly and alarm
- Scroll any custom text on the vest
- Rechargeable battery
The funds that are raised during the campaign towards improving software interface; refine the design 6 materials; explore more variety of animation and modes; and tweak with the electronics and materials.
The vest even made its way to Good Morning America this morning as part of the National Puppy Day celebration. Party’s “mascot” Lolli appeared on the morning talk show rocking the cute doggy vest and showing off all of the project’s unique features.
The prices for the vests are:
Small dogs: 11”-13” Length, 17”-20” Girth ($300)- Medium: 13”-15” Length, 19”-22” Girth ($350)
- Large: 17”-19” Length, 24”-27” Girth ($400)
Estimated delivery for the vests is November 2015. Other campaign perks include t-shirts and an invitation to the Disco Dog pop-up event in New York City.
Those looking to fund the project have until April 12th.
