On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, the U.S. Chamber Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness (CCMC) will host a luncheon and discussion of corporate disclosures, in light of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) disclosure effectiveness initiative, and what should be done to modernize disclosures to make them useful for today’s investors.
Technology has enabled investors to access more information than ever before. Decades of innovation raise new questions about the balance between information that is useful for investors and immaterial disclosures. The SEC’s disclosure effectiveness initiative has begun to ask these tough questions and find ways to improve the utility of corporate disclosures.
The event will feature perspectives representing the business community and investors, and examine these issues and potential SEC actions that would increase the effectiveness of the current disclosure regime and the definition of materiality.
Registration and lunch will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the program from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Click here to register.
