Should Your Fintech Company Apply for an OCC Charter? – Webinar

January 24, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) recently announced it would consider applications from fintech companies, or technology companies that offer financial services. From new compliance policies to regulatory responsibilities, the benefit might not outweigh the risk for some companies. As a result, fintech companies will need to think deeper into whether or not they want to pursue an OCC charter.

To discuss OCC chartering issues, Pepper Hamilton LLP will host a webinar titled, “Should Your Fintech Company Apply For an OCC Charter?.”  Pepper Hamilton and former OCC attorneys Greg Rubis, special counsel in the Financial Services Practice Group, and Mark Dabertin, special counsel in the Financial Services Practice Group, as well as Editor-in-Chief of Lending Times, George Popescu, will speak during the webinar.

Rick Eckman, partner in the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group, will serve as the moderator.

The event will explore pressing questions involving OCC chartering, including:

  • What to consider when evaluating whether a fintech bank makes sense
  • The advantages of having an OCC charter
  • Timing, costs, and issues in applying for a charter
  • Key issues that the OCC will be evaluating
  • Composition of the management team
  • Capital and liquidity requirements
  • What it is like to be subject to examination and supervision by the OCC
  • Promoting fair access, financial inclusion and CFPB and other governmental objectives – considerations and solutions.

The webinar will take place on Jan. 24, 2016 from 12:00−1:00 p.m. and will include a Q&A session.
