Proud parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings will soon be able to watch, along with encourage, the progress of the next generation through a new online social platform for students called the Acknowledge Xc.
Acknowledge Xc, which is offering 15% equity for £100,000 to investors on crowdfunding platform Funding Tree, stated the new startup can also be used to supplement a student’s academic CV, which in turn can aid in university and school applications by highlighting their past commitments and extra-curricular activities.
Brainchild of former investment banker Sam Elworthy, Acknowledge Xc works alongside a school’s existing network to allow students to create an online profile showcasing videos, pictures and highlights of their academic achievements and extra-curricular activities. It can then be shared securely with their nearest and dearest who each have personalized login access to the profile.
Each profile on Acknowledge Xc may be used to supplement a student’s academic CV and enhance applications for different schools. It acts as proof of past commitments along with extra curricular activities and may support personal statements.
The platform will initially target the UK’s 500,000 independent school pupils. Ultimately the platform will be marketed to the roughly three million privately schooled students around the world. With the global private school sector expected to double over the next seven to eight years, the company anticipates continued growth for the foreseeable future and has estimated this market to contain around 3 million students.
