No More Walking at Airports: Chicago Startup Modobag Seeks Funds on Indiegogo For Motorized Rideable Luggage

Modobag 5

Chicago startup, Modobag, has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to raise funds for its self-titled luggage. The project has successfully topped its initial $50,000 funding goal and is now nearing $200,000.

Modobag 1What has attracted nearly 200 backers to the initiative? The tech company is promising its product is the world’s first motorized, rideable carry-on luggage. That’s right, rideable. Users of the suitcase will never have to worry about walking through airports. The bag has GPRS-GSM tracking and a USB charging port that will also keep other devices charged and ready for an upcoming flight.

The bag weighs only 19 pounds and the max rider can weigh 260 pounds. The battery can reach 80% charge in 15 minutes and fully charged in less than an hour. The suitcase’s charger can be plugging into any standard U.S. outlet (international outlets may require an adapter). The battery is UN, TSA, FAA and IATA approved.

Kevin O’Donnell, CEO of Modobag, reportedly stated:

Modobag 4“We created Modobag to revolutionize the way people travel and introduce one of the biggest updates to carry-on luggage since rolling suitcases were launched in the 1970’s. With Modobag’s user-friendly, rideable carry-on, anyone from professionals to college students can eliminate their daily stress of commuting by getting to their destination faster, keeping their electronics charged and having fun while they do it.”

Those looking to purchase the suitcase may do so through Indiegogo starting at $995 (early bird special). The campaign is set to close mid-August and fulfillment of the bag is scheduled for February 2017.
