Berlin-based Beach-Inspector claims itself as the first professional and global beach information portal. Beach-Inspector tests and digitalizes beaches around the world, providing authentic and comprehensive information, photos and videos and professional ratings. At this writing, more than 1000 beaches in 20 countries have been scouted.

Seeking to include additional holiday destinations, develop functions and services and promote internationalization with the investment amount, Beach-Inspector aims to expand and digitalize global beaches together with Companisto’s crowd.

thomas-berndorfer“We want to develop the site together with the crowd and allow them to share in our business as investors,” confirmed Beach-Inspector Co-Founder Thomas Berndorfer explained. “We want to offer more community functions in the future, such as e.g. uploading own photos, videos and creating own favorite beaches. This is where we would like to actively involve our supporters and investors. The crowd is also perfect for increasing awareness of our product.”

Co-founder Kai Michael Schäfer came up with the idea for Beach-Inspector while researching his own beach holiday. Schäfer realized that travel operators or comparison and rating portals only provided selected and subjective information about beaches.

kai-michael-schafer“Together with the crowd, we want to become the first global point of contact for beach information,” stated Schäfer.

At Beach-Inspector, trained employees test the beaches on location using a standardized procedure with more than 120 criteria including, e.g., cleanliness or whether the beach is family-friendly.

“We want to help tourists find the perfect beach as, for many people, their vacation is the most special time of the year, and we want to try and avoid disappointment at all costs,” Schäfer added.

Visitors can access all information and services, including the Beach-Inspector apps, gratis. In August alone, almost 400,000 users visited Beach-Inspector.com for holiday destinations including the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, the Spanish coast, the Algarve, Mauritius, Thailand and Bali. Beach destinations such as the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, Croatia, Sardinia, the Turkish Riviera, Crete and the Dominican Republic are scheduled to go live in the next weeks.
