A few years ago, Chris Roberts felt the itch to return to his old stomping grounds – making video games.
The veteran Austin designer responsible for the iconic “Wing Commander” franchise had been making movies for most of the past decade. Meanwhile, the gaming universe had changed.
“The shift to online and digital was something I found really compelling — the ability to directly connect with your audience,” Roberts said.
What’s more, the space simulation games that Roberts made famous weren’t being produced anymore. Roberts said he found himself wanting to play one.
