UK: New crowd funding platform open for business – FundTheGap

Fund the GapFundTheGap, a new online platform for crowd funding, co-founded by Cambridge-based Ken Ford, is kicking off with a bid to raise £200k for a stake in Babraham-based Cell Guidance Systems.

The cash will buy a 12.37% share in CGS, which is involved in stem cell research to create drugs to treat stroke, spinal injury, heart disease and many others.

The founders say that by instantly connecting start-ups and small businesses with qualified investors, FundTheGap is set to be the most intuitive online source of funding in the UK.

Along with the funding for CGS, FundTheGap is offering stakes in broadband companies in the Cotswolds and the West Country, and a pub regeneration business.
