Campaign To Repair Muddy Waters’ Chicago Home Launched Thru Kickstarter

mud_bioOnce again a positive note for the Chicago landmark and home of Blues Legend, Muddy Waters. The house at 4339 S. Lake Park Ave. was Muddy’s home for twenty years. If you haven’t been following this story you may want to start at the beginning, here.

The case for the landmark is slowly reaching its way to the courts and, in order to prevent demolition they must receive bids for repairs. Head of receivership for the Neighborhood Housing Services, Bryan Esenberg, estimated these costs at $100 a square foot ($200,000-$250,000 total).

Muddy’s grandson, Steven Mckinley Monson is heading up a drive via the funding site, Kickstarter. “Mo Money Mo Blues” will launch on Wednesday with a video documenting the many tourists (mainly European) that have visited the site. A series of benefit concerts are currently in the works at House of Blues clubs nationwide, along with plans for an annual Watersworld Music Festival.
