JJ O’Brien is making apparel for a “life less ordinary” and he is self-crowdfunding his fascinating design using Crowdhoster by Crowdtilt.
This former finance guy who has a Stanford MBA, just wanted a cool costume for burning man (of course) and has turned this need into becoming an apparel entrepreneur in San Francisco.
JJ started started his own apparel brand, hem/\haus, last summer and he has dreamed up something really cool. A brand of clothing which is drawable / luminescent (drawable like a human, glowing, etch-a-sketch) using any source of UV light. T-shirts, tank tops, shorts and dresses. If you really want to glow in your clothes Glow/\Republic apparel is perfect for you.
Using a UV laser pointer you can draw on his garments and they will stay luminated for 2 to 5 minutes. Certainly a conversation item and most definitely a lot of fun generating social engagement at any type of event. The clothing which is completely manufactured using their patent pending material in the United States. The fabric is a cotton / polyester blend and machine washable which guarantees years of glowing fun.
Hem/\Haus is running a self-crowdfunding campaign using Crowdhoster. The initial goal of raising $10,000 was recently surpassed in a little over a week. This pretail campaign has already set some ambitious stretch goals but the good thing is it appears that their first run of products are going to be made. If they hit their stretch goals other products will be rolled up into the crowdfunding project.
Crowdfunding runs until November 30th so if you are interested in being the first person on your block to wear glowing clothing hurry up and support JJ’s project. I would not be surprised if this small crowdfunding campaign leads to bigger things for JJ and his team. This is an opportunity for you to say you were there when it all started.
Estimated deliver is March 2014. For a $30 reward you can get a tank top plus one light pen. For $1000 you can suit up in a glowing bird cape. Probably more fun if y0u buy two and share with a friend. Watch the pitch video.
