The Small Business Administration has scheduled a Small Business Roundtable on Crowdfunding. The event will be taking place on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the SBA offices in Washington, DC. As previously reported the two hour meeting will feature prominent Securities Attorney and Crowdfund Insider columnist Samuel S. Guzik. The event is open to the public with the exception of the press. Individuals interesting in attending the event may RSVP by emailing Assistant Chief Counsel for Advocacy, SBA Office of Advocacy, Dillon Taylor at Dillon.Taylor@sba.gov.
Guzik founded Guzik & Associates in 1993 and maintains offices in Los Angeles and New York City. The law firm provides a broad spectrum of legal representation in the areas of business, corporate, and securities law. Guzik has written extensively on the various aspects of the JOBS Act, crowdfunding and small business capital formation.
A crowdfunding industry insider recently stated about the importance of the new form of capital formation;
“Investment crowdfunding, if properly implemented, represents an important new avenue to encourage entrepreneurial activity and facilitate capital formation for startups and small business. The real challenge will be to establish a regulatory framework which will protect investors without imposing unnecessary costs and burdens on the entrepreneur.”
