SBA Crowdfunding Roundtable Announces Agenda, Features Samuel S. Guzik

Samuel S. GuzikCalifornia based Securities Attorney Samuel S. Guzik has been scheduled to lead the Small Business Administration (SBA) Crowdfunding Roundtable scheduled for January 15, 2014.  The event is open to the public and will be held at the SBA offices in Washington, DC.  Guzik, a noted authority on securities law, is also a columnist for Crowdfund Insider where he has regularly commented on various aspects of the JOBS Act and the regulatory process.

The roundtable will involve an overview of the SEC’s proposed rule to implement Title III of the JOBS Act or Crowdfunding. The release of the SEC’s proposed rule on crowdfunding would allow small businesses and startups to sell stocks to a wide variety of investors online through funding portals and broker dealers. The SEC proposed rule – a 500+ page release – provides the framework for the practice of crowdfunding and seeks comment from the public on over 200 issues.  Guzik will make a presentation to provide a small business perspective on the SEC proposed rule. With over 30 years experience working with small startups and private placements, Guzik is uniquely qualified to decipher and appraise the proposed regulations.

SBA.GOV site - U.S Small Business AdministrationThe SBA is looking to facilitate an open dialogue about crowdfunding.  Given the amount of detail contained in the proposed rules, feedback from the small business community will be helpful to the Office of Advocacy in setting its priorities related to this issue.
