Global rewards based crowdfunding leader Kickstarter has updated their platform by adding 94 new subcategories to their site. Apparently a growing number of project creators and backers have been requesting the new feature. Incorporating a more granular categorization will certainly aid those looking for specific project types. No word on whether they will start breaking out their stats using the new subcategories.
Kickstarter has added new headings like 3D Printing, Food Trucks, Architecture, Playing Cards and even Typography. T hey have added a few that no one has been requesting – but certainly make sense like Pet Fashion, Robots and Bacon. It is pretty surprising that no one has requested a Bacon category as of yet.
Project creators have access to the new subcats immediately and Kickstarter has stated more are on the way. So if you have a suggestion head over to the comment box and ask away.
