Loomio Scores $125K In CrowdHoster Campaign

Excited to share the special news, Loomio creators took to their blog announce its crowdfunding campaign reached $125,000 and share their gratitude towards it’s 1,600 backers. Setting out to raise $100,000, Loomio managed to raise over $80k just five days after launching the campaign on CrowdHoster. The company labeled the campaign as being the biggest “high-pressure” project that most of its staff had ever been involved in.  Not only was it featured on CrowdHoster, Loomio made an appearance on Wired and FastCompany right at the end of the campaign.Loomio

As previously reported by Crowdfund Insider, The forthcoming application aims to provide a social voting and implementation mechanism for ideas.  It promises to be a platform that acts to facilitate the discussion and eventual adoption of ideas. Individuals may submit proposals and others will then be able to vote to agree, disagree abstain or block. The platform facilitates discussion around proposals until a solution is settled.

Douglas RushkoffAdvisor to the company and author of “Present Shock” Douglas Rushkoff stated, “Loomio unleashes the Internet’s potential to bring people towards consensus rather than polarize debate.”

 

On its blog, Loomio stated the next step will be to enable organizations to be more democractic and this will include practices outside of just using Loomio. The company has so far learned about running a democratic organization efficiently and also have learned how to run a successful crowdfunding campaign.
