Bringing all of Kickstarter’s well-known successes to its visitors, New York City’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) announced it is showcasing a curated collection that’s consisted of the many gadgets that have been brought to life in the past five years by the Kickstarter community.
Kickstarter announced that until June 16th, twenty-four of its successfully funded projects will be available in the MoMA Design Store in New York City and online. Each product was selected through MoMA’s curators and features some of the most exciting products. The selection includes Bulbing Lamp, Protecteo Slider Projector, and many more.
The crowdfunding giant noted, “This collaboration between Kickstarter and MoMA Design Store is a moment of real cultural significance. Here are works created by designers and the public, sharing and collaborating, showcased in one of the most revered institutions of the world. We’re all capable of creating incredible things.”
Kickstarter also revealed these are not the first Kickstarter-funded products to make their way into the MoMA design store. Last year, the iPad speaker Amplifiear, 3Doodler, the Lumio, FRANK and a MUSGUARD were showcased and available for purchase as well.
Also sharing details about its success over the past five years, Kickstarter stated it has quickly become “a hub for the global design community, and has pioneered a sea change in how designers work.” Since hitting the web in 2009, more than $158.8 million has been pledged to 7,778 projects on Kickstarter by thousands of people all over the world.
