San Francisco-based Mark One officially launched the pre-tail of its intelligent cup Vessyl on Thursday to raise $50,000 to validate consumer demand and begin production. Co-founded by Justin Lee and Yves Behar, along with the Fuseproject team, Mark One is the consumer brand company behind Vessyl, which aims to build desirable products that engage, inform, and inspire people to make healthier choices.


The team’s elegant new device, which is crafted with the expertise of Jawbone and Ouya mastermind Behar, will likely be the sleek lifestyle product that consumers will want to take everywhere. With its spill-proof lid, non-stick interior, durable build and discrete consumption data screen display, Vessyl is both fashionable and functional. The accompanying charging coaster compliments Vessyl’s design and, with just an hour of charge, it powers the cup for up to a full week.

Vessyl knows the difference between Tropicana OJ with pulp and Tropicana OJ without pulp,  in less than a second. By taking the tedious guesswork out of nutrition tracking, Vessyl provides consumers with personalized insight on consumption with actionable feedback on how to meet one’s health goals.

Pour any liquid into the streamline Vessyl, and within seconds its advanced sensing technology breaks down the fluid to its molecular level, instantly recognizing key pieces information, including:

  • Beverage type – Vessyl’s ultra sensitive technology immediately detects if the beverages is, for example, milk or juice. Vessyl can even tell the difference between bands such as Pepsi and Coke.
  • Caloric makeup – Sees how many calories are really in one’s drink, as well as other information such as total grams of sugar, fat, protein, sodium, and caffeine.
  • Pryme – Unique to Vessyl, Pryme estimates the consumer’s hydration needs to insure best performance.
