StarHub’s Crowdtivate, a new crowdfunding platform based out of Singapore, has officially launched with 11 projects that are from across Asia – from assistive tech products to mechanical smart watch. The platform also offers mentorship and consulting to help aspiring entrepreneurs design an effective crowdfunding campaign for their products/services.
The platform was first announced as a beta launch this past April. Crowdtivate was developed in partnership with StarHub, a Singapore based communications company. A statement shared that the platform may offer additional support, based on response from financial backers, related to business incubation and regional expansion. The platform also noted that projects will also be selected to receive additional help such as access to test users, marketing support, startup fundings, infrastructure support, and free software development.
Head of StarHub’s innovation, investment, and incubation, Stephen Lee, stated,
“Since the beta launch of Crowdtivate in April 2014, we have receive hundreds of project proposals for crowdfunding. These past three months were spent with the entrepreneurs developing a strong marketing and promotional campaign that we believe will inspire the crowdfunding community.”
Of the 11 projects that are currently on the platform, 3 are still in preview stages and the fund collections are not available for these companies at this time. Most are based out of Singapore, while two are from Malaysia and one from Hong Kong. Leading the projects right now is Hong Kong-based Ambi Climate, who has so far raised $6,763. The product is a standalone device that is able to control any air conditional and automatically adjusts to the perfect indoor temperature.
Crowdtivate is a crowdfunding platform for entrepreneurs to gather contributions from the crowd in a form of feedback, funding, resources, or ideas. There are three ways to get the crowd involved on Crowdtivate:
- Crowdfunding: A creator can gather monetary contributions from supporters in exchange for products and services using a “pay-as-you-go” funding system.
- Crowd Voting: A creator can get validation from the crowd about an idea or specific topic by receiving an “up-vote” or feedback. No rewards or funds are exchanged through this platform.
- Crowdsourcing: A creator can gather contributions from “contributors” in the form of “skills” or “resources” to help in the execution of a goal. In exchange for a skill or resource, the creator can provide a reward as an incentive for contributors.
Public investors who are wanting to contribute funds to a project can sign up for a free account on the site.
