Germany based investment crowdfunding platform Companisto has claimed Europe’s most successful crowdfunding offer ever.
In a note to site followers, the Companisto site stated that Weissenhaus has set a new European record. The offer to fund a unique German resort in Northern Germany has raised € 3,450,615 (about $4.531 million) from 819 investors since the funding campaign launched this past July.
The project had set an initial funding goal of raising € 1 million but that amount was easily passed. The maximum amount allowed, according to the campaign page, is € 4 million. The offer is actually for investors to participate in a subordinated profit participating loan. The minimum expected interest rate is 4% with a high end at 8% per annum. There is an additional opportunity to benefit if the property increases in value. Most investors participated at the lowest € 1,000 level but two investors have contributed € 250,000 to the project.
There have been other very large crowdfunding investment campaigns with Seedrs doing a self-crowdfunding offer that raised over $3.5 million, and more than a few multi-million rewards based campaigns but to date Companisto has claimed the Euro investment crowdfunding crown.
Dear Companists,
WEISSENHAUS is now officially Europe’s most successful crowdfunding!
European Record
We are thrilled: When we enabled investments in a property – our 5-star-superior resort WEISSENHAUS by the Baltic Sea to be precise – on the German crowdfunding platform Companisto roughly 6 weeks ago, we did not expect that we would get more than 3.4 million euros until today in spite of the good investment terms. We have thus set a new European record for the most successful equity-based crowdfunding ever!
And we are truly grateful, for it is more important to us than having received a certain amount of money that over 820 people have already shown us their confidence in our concept of combining historic buildings, unspoiled landscape, state-of-the-art furnishings, and our “confident nonchalance” to create a unique experience.
As with most consumer facing investment crowdfunding projects the offer incorporates investor incentives or perks for those who back the company. Weissenhaus took this opportunity to add a few more perks to individuals who participate in the company. Some of the perks included dinner vouchers and lodging at the resort.
Weissenhaus Grand Village Resort and Spa is a five star operation located directly on the Baltic Sea that is within easy driving distance of Hamburg. Jan Henric Buettner, a former executive at Bertelsmann and co-founder of AOL Europe bout the property and restored the entire village and estate. Weissenhaus was a resort he had enjoyed in his youth and he was committed to an authentic revival of the estate. Reviews have been extremely positive helping boost investor interest.
