Brief: Lucie Foundation Launches Crowdfunding Platform for Photography

Honoring its mission to discover and cultivate emerging photography talent, non-profit organization, Lucie Foundation, has launched a brand new crowdfunding platform that is exclusively for photo-based projects, Fotofund.

Lucie FoundationMedia Bistro reports that Fotofund was created “to provide financial backing to photographic projects through online contributions and to support photography worldwide by bringing photographers’ visions to life.” The photography platforms offers both flexible and fixed funding.

The Fotofund team stated, “We aim to develop a dedicated network of photographers and photo enthusiasts who will come together in support of one another and the photography community at large – project backers pledging to support project creators, who in turn support an organization committed to the advocacy of photography worldwide.”

Fotofund New York PotraitsOn Fotofund, four precent of all funds raised will be reinvested in the photography community through expanded Lucie Foundation programming, which will include the following:

  • Additional artist grants
  • Continued development of existing programs like Month of Photography Los Angeles (MOPLA) and SNAPSHOP!
  • Education exhibition space meant to further engage the public.

The Lucie Foundation is a non-profit, charitable foundation whose three-tiered mission is to honor master photographers, discover and cultivate emerging talent, and to celebrate the appreciation of photography worldwide. Through its annual Lucie Awards, the foundation honors and celebrates the achievements of master photographers and their contributions to the art of photography.
