Brief: Solar Bond Offered on DuurzaamInvesteren

solarRelatively new investment crowdfunding platform DuurzaamInvesteren is seeking to carve out a niche in the renewable energy crowdfunding space. The Amsterdam based company has offered three wind energy projects and now they are offering investors the chance to participate in their first “Solar Bond”.

Renewable energy firm Sunrock Investments, via SAB a Belgian subsidiary, is seeking financing for a project in Flanders near the city of Maastricht.  The targeted raise is for € 250,000 for a bond that has a stated interest rate of 6% over a 5 year term. The interest rate is an “attractive alternative” for Dutch retail investors when compared to current rates in bank savings accounts.  This is a refinancing of a project that has been operational since 2009 and is described as “performing above expectations”. The project generates annually approximately 460 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable electricity sufficient power to supply about 130 households annually.
