Irish bookmaker, Paddy Power, has teamed with up with David Ginola to launch a crowdfunding campaign through UK platform Crowdfunder called Team Ginola. The project is seeking £2.3 million to support Ginola’s FIFA presidency bid and will be used to deliver a comprehensive global marketing and communications campaign over the coming months.
Crowdfunder, MD, Phil Geraghty, said: “Crowdfunder is delighted to be able to provide the platform on which football fans across the world can come together to support David Ginola and Paddy Power’s campaign. Crowdfunding helps turns ideas into reality – from businesses, to charities to campaigning organizations. We wish Team Ginola every success.”
David Ginola said “I am asking supporters of my bid to pledge their support now on my Crowdfunder platform, Team Ginola. I am putting my name forward as a candidate for the Presidency of FIFA and am seeking the support from fans all over the world and from their football associations to make this happen. I believe that I have the credentials and capability to be a strong candidate, a candidate of football fans and lovers of the game from the four corners of the world. The people who follow football should have a voice and a cause. My voice is theirs. My cause is theirs.”
Paddy Power commented “David Ginola has the intelligence, character and capability to be President of FIFA. He has the prospect of becoming the first football fans’ candidate for the Presidency. We are calling on fans globally to mobilise and join Team Ginola. We have worked with Crowdfunder to provide the platform to ignite a football revolution and now it’s over to you to make this happen.

Since its debut, Team Ginola’s crowdfunding campaign has raised £253,306. It is set to close on February 28th.
