Can’t seem to enjoy those 8 hours that medical professionals are always discussing? Tired of sleepless nights? Sleep deprived insomniacs, rejoice! There’s a new crowdfunding project on Indiegogo that might be the answer to your late night struggles.
Luna helps to manage your bed’s temperature, tracks sleep and ultimately makes it “smart.” Simply slip it onto a mattress (it fits full, queen, regular and California king beds) and watch your bed become the most comfortable spot in your home.
The product’s dual zone technology provides the option for sleepers to select different temperatures for each side of the bed. It then learns their regular bedtime and sets you bed to a comfortable temperature to help them fall asleep faster.
Luna also tracks the quality of your sleep such as sleep phrases, heart rate, and breathing rates. This helps to free the sleeper from having to wear any wearable devices to bed by doing the doing the following:
Auto-Schedule: learns and programs itself to create a personalized schedule for bed temperature adjustments, and continues to adapt to a person’s changing life- Smartphone remote control: control the device from your smartphone or tablet from wherever you are.
- Secure and Private: Complete secure and uses public key cryptography. It’s security features include HTTPS, SSL, and 128-bit encryption.
Along with its sleep technology, Luna is equipped with a built-in smart alarm that awakes sleepers at the right moment of “light sleep,” which will help cure the groggy morning feelings. This is done by Luna’s sensing technology, which identifies the correct moment in a person’s sleep cycle to wake them up at their highest energy level.
During a recent interview with TechCrunch, co-founder of Luna Matteo Franceschetti stated, “Our idea is to really automatize most of your sleep habits. The more Internet devices will be distributed and sold across the United States, the more this product will be useful.”
While revealing the most noticeable change in sleep habits as a result of Luna, Franceschetti noted, “For men, the most exciting part is our interaction with smart home devices – so the lights, your Netflix, Spotify. For women, instead, its temperature. We have seen most of the couple fight about temperature. Men love to sleep cold while women love to sleep hot and through the different temperature and zone control, it’s something we have solved.”
The Luna team also informed the media outlet’s Anthony Ha that it protects your sleep data. The company explained that the data collects its aggregated locally, on the device, then encrypted and sent to Luna for storage and analysis.
Set to be retailed at $249, Luna is currently available for the price of $179 through pre-order. Since it’s launch, the campaign has already surpassed its initial $100,000 and has received over $293,000 thanks to 1,350 backers. It is to close on February 26th.
