Fundrise co-founder Dan Miller recently chatted up one of their most interesting real estate crowdfunding deals yet: 3 World Trade Center.
The project is a 2.5 million square foot class A office development put together by big name developer Silverstein Properties in downtown New York City. Silverstein happens to be investors in the fast growing funding portal.
Miller visited the studios of Bloomberg and joined Betty Liu to talk about the new project and pointing out that, in the past, most people were excluded from these types of investment opportunities but crowdfunding is changing all that today. Investors may participate for as little as $5000. For this deal it is only available for the accredited investor population.
Miller states, “previously banks have acted like country clubs” and limited investors to institutions or family offices. Dan explains they (along with others) are challenging the existing model – all for the better, of course.
