The technorati gather en-masse once a year to slap each-other on the back and share a drink or two in the epicenter of it all. While the film industry has the Oscars (highly over-rated in my opinion) the geeks have the Crunchies. Awards are dispersed, speeches are given, Â and you get to see people dressed in something other than a hoodie. Unfortunately the Crunchies of 2015 have been most notable for the performance of actor / comedian TJ Miller as host who tried to be funny and failed.
Since the crowdfunding world came into existence, crowdfunded projects and crowdfunding platforms have had a solid showing. Â This year was little different except for the fact the Angel of the Year award went to not one – but many. Â At this year’s Crunchies ALL of the backers of Oculus Rift (or VR) were anointed Angelic. Â All the backers of the original crowdfunding campaign that rocketed Oculus to legendary status were acknowledged. In 2012 Oculus raised over $2.4 million on Kickstarter from 9,522 backers – will they each receive a trophy?
Oculus, who came home with more awards than one, had  Nate Miller, VP of product at Oculus there to tweet about it;
And a #Crunchies win for the @oculus Kickstarter backers! Congratulations, and thank you! pic.twitter.com/pZQWstcRN0
