Just six months after its successful Kickstarter campaign came to an end, React Mobile, a personal safety solution featuring a leading app to enable family and friends to monitor someone’s location and call for help in an emergency, today announced the availability of the React Sidekick, a Bluetooth panic button to quickly and remotely activate an alert without the need to find, unlock and dial from a phone that may not be within reach. The Sidekick pairs with the popular React Mobile safety app to provide peace of mind and the fastest way to reach a wide network when it matters most.
CEO of React Mobile, Robb Monkman explained:
“Since our app launched over a year ago, we’ve been continually evolving our software and it’s become clear that in an emergency an app alone is not always enough. The successful Kickstarter campaign enabled us to create the missing component in a personal safety system — the React Sidekick — to bypass a phone lock and activate a widespread alert. Our app stands on its own, and the Sidekick is helping to make our safety solution even more powerful.”
The Sidekick is a low energy Bluetooth Smart (4.0) panic button. Its modular, gender-neutral design makes it accessible to anyone. The device is perfect for those with an active lifestyle and brings peace of mind when: running alone, walking at night, meeting new clients, dating or alerting a wide network of family and friends whenever a phone is locked and out of reach. The Sidekick can be worn on a clip or keychain and is also a great tool for children and teens to easily call for help in an emergency.
Users can easily activate React Mobile’s “Follow-Me” location sharing service and rest assured that people in their emergency network are tracking they’re whereabouts in real-time whenever they’re concerned about safety. When the Sidekick is activated, friends and family will receive a “Help Me” alert text message and email that includes a link to the users GPS location. Users can also choose to automatically post their alerts to Facebook and Twitter to let an even wider network of contacts know where they are and that they need help.
The React Mobile personal safety solution can also send alerts to emergency dispatchers in areas that support E-911. Recent news reports have revealed a nationwide problem with cell phones sending accurate location data when a call is made to 911. According to the reports, the Federal Communications Commission has issued new rules ordering carriers to improve the reliability of location data over the next several years.
Scott Whittlesey, Windermere Real Estate Agent, stated:
“The Sidekick is a game changer for agents that are constantly meeting with new clients in unfamiliar locations. Using the React Mobile Follow-Me feature together with the Sidekick, myself and co-workers can conduct our business while knowing that someone is tracking our location in real-time and ready to respond if an alert is activated. Knowing that one click of the Sidekick is all it takes to call for help gives me and our agents added peace of mind. I can’t wait to show the Sidekick to as many agents as possible.”
Cyclist and competitor, Alexandria Luschen, added:
“React Mobile is great for athletes and as a female athlete safety is my highest priority. I love that my network can watch over me while I’m on rides or while running and now with the Sidekick, all I need to do is press a button to let a wide network know where I am and that I need help. Cyclist accidents happen all the time, and many times your phone is not within reach. I’m recommending the Sidekick to my team and other cyclists.”
