Ready to put up a fight against laziness, Washington-based startup iMovR hit Kickstarter to raise funds for its newest height-adjustable desk, the Upsilon model.
Upsilon’s price ($399) changes the equation for people seeking relief from low back pain and other side effects of spending too many hours sitting. By utilizing production efficiencies gained through technical innovation, iMovR is able to offer an entire desk at less than the cost of a desktop sit-stand riser — and at half the cost of an ergonomic chair — without compromising on the desk’s performance or quality.
Mark Alexander, iMovR’s Product Manager, announced:
“We originally designed the Upsilon in response to demand from mission-critical, call center operators who wanted a true, 24″-deep, electric sit-stand desk to fit their traditional 48″- and 60″-wide cubicles. The desk had to be very rugged and eminently affordable, yet blend in with their professional decor. It had to be extremely stable yet without having its feet extend beyond the front or back of the desktop. By the time we were done we realized we had also created the ideal desk for many offices and homes constrained by space and budget and for whom no other electric desk on the market would fit.”
Despite its compactness, the Upsilon’s dual precision electric motors can lift up to 360lbs at a speed of 1.3 inches-per-second. Notably, at under 41 decibels it is the quietest electric desk on the market. The height ranges from 24″ to 50″, making it usable both by seated children and standing adults up to 6’4″ tall.
Currently, Upsilon is available in six desktop colors and two base colors. The advanced Surf(x) 3D lamination wrapped around the desktop’s ergo-contoured edges provides superior durability compared to conventional desk lamination technology, and gives the elegant appearance of being carved from solid hardwood.
Upon the conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign on June 8th, the Upsilon desk will retail for $568 (24″x42″), $588 (24″x48″) and $628 (24″x60″), and sold through iMovR.com and Amazon.
