Sugru, raising equity on Crowdcube, rocketed past £1 Million in just 4 days earlier this month. The crowdfunding campaign benefitted by a solid consumer base of users and an expanding retail network. Sugru is moldable glue, described as 21st century duct tape. Early on in the funding round, investors ranged from £10 to £40,000. Now there is a single investor who backed the offer with £1 million.

While I am not certain if this is the “largest ever” it is a lot for a single investor to contribute through a crowdfunding platform.
Sugru is in over-funding mode having raised £2.7 million from over 2000 investors. The original offer was for a 4% equity stake in the young company.
The product is in use in over 160 countries and recently signed distribution deals with Lowe’s and Target in the US – so they have plenty of room to grow. The offer is still open so if you are interested you may check it out here on Crowdcube.
