With 24 days remaining on its third Companisto crowdfunding campaign, Foodist has gained the support of over 880 Companists who pitched in over 901,415€ in entrepreneurial foodie funding. A successful campaign from the get-go, the Hamburg-based delicacy box start-up Foodist, co-founded in 2012 by Alexander Djordjevic and Ole Schaumberg, has experienced strong growth over the last two years and has increased the number of monthly subscribers from 350 to as many as 14,000. Each month, subscribers enjoy an exclusive selection of international delicacies delivered to their doors. The market leader in food box subscriptions, Foodist generated €1,438,157 in revenues in the first quarter of 2015, according to the campaign.
Foodist’s third funding campaign, which ends 10 September 2015, aims to enable the startup’s expansion into the Benelux countries and to access to new business segments.
“We plan to focus on additional business segments for which we need to make additional investments. Our Foodist Handel unit has recently reached the proof-of-concept phase, and we now want to expand this unit,” according to the campaign. “Through this unit, we are exclusively selling the best products from our Foodist Box to the German retail industry. On 1 June, we also launched a new subscription box, our Foodist Healthy Box. We will be able to achieve considerable further growth faster through another financing round.”
