On-Demand Delivery Service UrbanSherpa Seeks $300,000 on Snowball Effect For New Zealand Expansion

UrbanSherpa, an on-demand delivery service, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Snowball Effect to raise $300,000 to continue its expansion in New Zealand. This campaign was launched nine months after the company captured $750,000 during its first funding initiative.

The company revealed:

UrbanSherpa“Our goal is to redefine the way people shop. We provide a concierge pick up and drop off service that is fast, convenient and responsive to the demands of a busy lifestyle. We seamlessly combine the technology of digital platforms through our custom apps and website with the convenience of an on-demand delivery infrastructure via our UrbanSherpas. If you want your product in your customer’s hands fast, then we can get it there.”

According to UrbanSherpa’s CEO Brian Dewil, more than 3,500 Auckland residents and 20 businesses have registered to use the company’s one-hour, $12 flat-fee delivery service since its launch this summer:

“The internet – and smartphones in particular – have helped create an on-demand economy where online shoppers want it now. Our unique blend of an Uber-style smartphone app, attractive pricing and can do attitude has really struck a chord with Auckland shoppers and retailers. Now that we’ve established a base camp of sorts, we need to push on and, to do that, we need more capital.”

While revealing what the funds will be used for, Dewil explained:

Brian Dewil“Our immediate goal is to hire more UrbanSherpas and expand our footprint in Auckland, and then to Wellington and Christchurch. Allied to this is significant marketing investment to drive user acquisition and new merchant partnerships. Finally, we need to keep advancing our app and back-end technology platform to improve the user experience, and allow integration with our merchant partners’ e-commerce systems to provide a seamless experience for all.”

UrbanSherpa’s existing shareholders include Dewil as well as directors Rob Campbell (Chairman), Christina Domecq and Peter Hodge. The offer is being led by Foundry Innovations as the cornerstone investor.

Since its launch, UrbanSherpa’s campaign has raised $132,000. It is set to close on November 28th.
