The Bragi Dash is finally in mass production. In a backer update, Dash creators stated that broad shipping will occur next weeks with batches going to specific regions around the world via UPS. Production is expected to quickly ramp to approximately 1500 Dashes per day. One of the final challenges, waterproofing, was said to be resolved, allowing for manufacturing to scale.
“We are very happy to announce mass production, yet that doesn’t mean that challenges are over. We still might have to stop production for a range of reasons. We are doing our best to ship you a nice product.”
The team explained that Bragi would be releasing ongoing updates to the software as the code starts to harden but clearly the extensive journey is nearing an end for the Bragi team and the thousands of backers that supported a product that was only a concept when the crowdfunding campaign launched on Kickstarter.
Bragi Dash founder also had the fortune to introduce the Dash to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. His product, along with others, were presented to the Chancellor at a recent event which took place in Germany. According to creator Nikolaj Hviid, Merkel was supposed to try on the Dash. With the recent events in Paris and elsewhere – the heightened security did not allow for Merkel to give it a go. Perhaps she will receive a pair for Christmas? Maybe we will see the Chancellor sporting the Dash while drinking some Glühwein.
