4 Hours Later: YC Alum SOUNDBOKS Reaps $133K+ on Kickstarter

soundboksSOUNDBOKS got the party started after overfunding within three hours of its Kickstarter campaign launch. At this writing, the campaign has exceeded $133K with the help of over 278 backers for its loudest outdoor speaker on the market. Readers, please keep this product on the down low from my neighbors!  SOUNDBOKS founders Jesper Theil Thomsen, Hjalte Emilio Wieth and Christoffer Nyvold decided to make their speaker while partying during the festival season.

Here are some reviews to consider:

soundboksThe Y Combinator alums turned to the global Kickstarter crowd today to ensure that festival and music lovers “have the opportunity to party together everywhere and overtime.”  Its “up to 30 hours of long lasting” LiFePO4 battery system plays through “freezing winters and burning summers” and charges within 3 hours, so the party never stops. SOUNDBOKS’ design requires no special care or diligance. Bluetooth or AUX-in connectivity connects  SOUNDBOKS to smartphones or  professional DJ mixers.

“We never found speakers that were powerful and robust enough for partying in extreme outdoor conditions with battery-packs that last minimum one night – so we decided to make our own,” shared Jesper Thomsen.

SOUNDBOKS linked with renowned Johnny Engberg, known in the online open-source audio community as “Saturnus” for its unique acoustics and amplifier.

According to the campaign,

“Our vision is for you to be able to create the experience of a concert or a festival anywhere, anytime. The SOUNDBOKS features a lightweight, but ultra durable design that helps ensure that the SOUNDBOKS always delivers – whether you’re at a wild tailgate or at an all-night party at the beach.”

soundboksThe founders of SOUNDBOKS will be present on the main festivals this season and, of course, will take their SOUNBOKS with them.

“We have created SOUNDBOKS for people who want to take the partying to the next level. It isn’t not just another pocket sized speaker, it is a full sized party sound system which you can take with you to create the kind of memories that never fade,” added Christoffer Nyvold.

soundboksThe SOUNDBOKS’ classic flight case design combines durable plywood with high-quality aluminum parts to ensure a rugged designs, according to the campaign. “You’ll never have to worry about whether or not your SOUNDBOKS can handle its environment – it’s rain, splash, shock and snow proof, and just waiting for your next move,” averred the campaign.

Buy in at $5 for a simple thank you, $39 for a MOBILEBOKS; the speaker packages range from $419 to $1,999.  Products are due to ship late spring 2016. SOUNDBOKS’ Kickstarter campaign closes in 32 days.
