Virtuix, creators of the Omni platform that pairs with VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift, immediately topped $2.5 million from approximately 500 investors in 24 hours as it raised capital via a Reg A+ equity crowdfunding round. Vortex is offering Series A preferred shares to the public on crowdfunding platform SeedInvest.
Virtuix already has a solid slate of venture capital investing in the company. Noriaki Okubo, a partner at Scentan Ventures and shareholder in Virtuix, said;
“Virtuix is transforming the inherently limiting seated or room-scale VR setup to a fun, engaging, and social Active VR experience. We invested in Virtuix because they are the Active VR category leader with a passionate and driven team that is determined to revolutionize VR gaming, fitness, training and simulation, and many other applications.”
“We are excited that our community can now participate in our financial future and be part of the next chapter of our story.”
Virtuix has raised just under $10 million to date with multiple prominent VCs helping to fund the company. Approximately 4000 Virtuix Omni’s have been pre-sold (@ $699/ each) to consumers with units starting to ship in the past few months. Expectations are for the virtual reality market to take off over the next few years. Initially gamers will look to add a motion platform like the Omni to VR headsets to create a completely immersive gaming experience. Additional VR applications such as tourism, training and more will soon follow. The additional funding raised in the Reg A+ offer will be used to grow the company and to continue product development.
Virtuix is hoping to raise up to $10 million in this funding round. The company captured $30 million in indicated investor interest prior to launching the equity crowdfunding round.
