On Monday, crowdfunding platform DonorsChoose announced that it has teamed up with Burlington Stores for the second year in a row. The companies joined forces last year and raised $515,382 to help classrooms in need nationwide through customer donations at check out. Monies raised is now being used to fund more than 850 teacher posted projects throughout the country, benefiting 25,000 students and 1,000 teachers.
Burlington funded 120 school projects, filtering over$83,000 into public schools, benefitting 12,673 students and 107 teachers. These activities aided classrooms located within communities surrounding the retailer’s new store openings this past spring. And this fall, Burlington is continuing to fund local school projects surrounding their store openings over the next few months.
The campaign launched in all Burlington stores yesterday, just in time to celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week, which will run between now and June 11th. Customers can donate $1 or more at checkout at any store location.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Burlington Stores for another year to help ensure children in every community have the tools and experiences needed for an excellent education. The funds Burlington Stores raised during our first year helped to provide teachers and their students with the supplies and resources they need most.”
Tom Kingsbury, chairman and CEO of Burlington Stores, added:
“Burlington Stores is committed to improving the communities we live and work in and we are excited to continue to help students receive the supplies they need for a more valued learning experience.”
