UK Film Company Launches Seedrs Initiative to Secure £120,000 For A Movie Adaptation of Peter Flannery’s Novel “First And Only”

Seeking to bring Peter Flannery’s novel, First And Only, to the big screen, a UK-based studio with the same name as the book has launched a Seedrs initiative to raise £120,000 for the film’s production.

First and OnlyThe thriller, which was published through Amazon, has had over 60,000 downloads since its release in April 2012. Its synopsis reads:

“A young man with exceptional powers is haunted by the murder of an old friend. He know’s the killer is still out there and that one day he will face him again. The only thing greater than his power is his fear of his dreaded foe and the only way that he can be stopped is for our young hero to give up his life.”

The film company, which captured over £50,000 in November 2014 for the film through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, stated that it is planning to create a commercial feature film for the paranormal audience. It has already used the funds from the first campaign to create the script, establish a cast/production team, registering the film with the British Film Institute (BFI), and first 8 minutes of the film, the story of young Simon.

Funds from the Seedrs campaign will go towards developing First And Only’s screenplay, casting and bringing the film into pre-production. The company revealed:

First and Only“We’ve based our budget on achieving high production values, using our experience, new technologies and innovative techniques to keep the filming economical. We will utilise existing, reliable industry contacts to ensure quality and control budget. We are benefitting from additional international film industry expertise through Kieran Parker from Black Camel Pictures (produced ‘Outcast’ films and ‘Sunshine on Leith’) who is offering producer mentorship.”

Those that invest in the film will receive 5.50% in equity. Since its launch, the Seedrs campaign has secured over £20,000. It is set to close at the beginning of August.
