Brief: GoFundMe Donates $100,000 to Orlando Shooting Victims

GoFundMe announced on Monday it is offering up $100,000 to the Orlando shooting victims. The devastating incident took place in at the nightclub, Pulse, and left 49 dead and 53 injured.

“Today, GoFundMe donated $100,000 to the campaign supporting victims of the horrific shooting at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando, Florida. Started by Equality Florida, an LGBT advocacy organization, the campaign is the second largest and fastest growing in GoFundMe’s history, so far raising more than $1.8 million.”

LGBT rights group Equality Florida, launched the campaign on Sunday and is considered one of the largest LGBT rights group in the country. It is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization that is based out of St. Petersburg, Florida.  It stated that all funds will be distributed among the victims and families. It is currently working with attorneys and the National Center for Victims of Crime to deploy the money in both Chattanooga and Aurora to make sure every one of the victims receive the funds. 

Since its launch, the campaign has successfully secured over $2.1 million from nearly 50,000 supporters.
