Brewdog’s Head of Production Shares Details About the Brewery’s Third Site

BrewDog 3

This week, head of production at BrewDog, Matt Licklider, shared details about crowdfunded brewery’s third site, which was funded through the Equity for Punks campaign.

Brewdog 2Originally started out in the back of a van by two guys and dog, BrewDog is now recognized globally for its high-quality product and today employs over 350 people, exports beer to over 50 countries and operates over 32 branded bars with more to come.

Brewdog announced the location last year:

“This expansion comes as a direct result of your faith in us. We have now raised over £6m from Equity for Punks IV and the first £3m has been directly ploughed into this project, to allow us to keep up with the demand for our beers, create more jobs and continue to add to our growth potential. When complete in February 2016 Site 3 (we don’t have a cool codeword for it yet – feel free to suggest one in the comments) will increase our capacity fivefold, housing a bespoke Ziemann 300HL brewhouse, which will operate in tandem with our existing 100HL brewhouse.”

While explaining the company’s progress at the new site, Licklider stated:

BrewDog“We recently started brewing on our new Site 3 Ziemann brewhouse, and it has some great upgrades to help us with this. The malt mill is a six-roller mill which gives us more precise control of the grind so we can maximise extraction from the grain whilst Lautering. And since we can grind faster we can also minimise oxidation compounds – and we’ve also added a foremasher on the mash tun to improve malt hydration; keep water usage at a minimum and reduce waste.”

Matt then noted:

DogBless America BrewDogMeanwhile, BrewDog is making final preparation for the launch of Equity for Punks USA. The company has filed with the SEC to launch a Reg A+ mini-IPO for their Yankee subsidiary. Mission control for BrewDog US will be based in the heartland of Columbus, Ohio – but operations will not just supply the lower 48. BrewDog sees the extension into the colonies as a chance to expand further into other countries.

The company recently announced its team profit share initiative, The Unicorn Fund. The fund is described as an opportunity to share in the success that Brewdog has worked hard to create. The company stated any crew member who signs up for the fund would receive a share of 10% of profit that it makes.
