On Monday, cosmetic giant and long-time support of women’s health causes, Revlon, announced the launch of the second annual Love Is On million dollar crowdfunding challenge, which will take place on Crowdrise.
Last year, the Revlon LOVE IS ON Million Dollar Challenge invited charities dedicated to three leading health issues facing women – cancers, heart disease, and diabetes – to participate in an online fundraising challenge. The charity that raised the most donations for their cause over the course of six weeks will win an additional $1 million donation from Revlon.
Over 100 women’s health charities reportedly participated in the Challenge last year and raised $2.75 million. Revlon also donated an additional $1.4 million in the prize money over the course of the event, with a total contribution reaching nearly $4.2 million.
First place of the 2015 Challenge was Cycle for Survival of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The organization received $1 million from Revlon, which was used for ovarian cancer research and treatment. Cancer Research Institute (CRI) was dubbed the second place winner and received funds for research in discovering new immunotherapies for cancers that most affect women, which includes breast, colorectal and lung cancers.
The Revlon Love Is On 2016 Million Dollar Challenge will award large cash donations, including a $1 million grand prize, to the top 5 organizations that raise the most donations over the course of the six-week competition. Additionally, Revlon has opened up the Challenge to any charity dedicated to women’s or girls’ health, and now welcomes charities from both the U.S. and Canada to participate in the Challenge.
Fabian Garcia, CEO of Revlon, stated:
“In 2015, with a philanthropic mission of spreading love in support of women’s health, we were pleased to see so many charities embrace this powerful emotion to drive donations. This year, we have added many enhancements to the Challenge that will result in even greater success for participating charities.”
Benjamin Karsch, EVP, Chief Marketing Officer at Revlon added,
“We are proud of the innovative ‘venture philanthropy’ approach we began in 2015, providing the framework to help charities triple the amount of funds Revlon contributed directly. We look forward to further helping these organizations maximize their fundraising power.”
Starting this month, organizations dedicated to women’s and girls’ health causes are invited to participate in Revlon’s LOVE IS ON 2016 Million Dollar Challenge. While the Challenge will kick-off on September 14th, the application for charity entrants is now open, here.
