This week, rapper and actor The Game, with his son Harlem, hit GoFundMe to raise $50,000 for a police officer, Tommy Norman, in Little Rock, Arkansas. The crowdfunding campaign’s description reads:
“Every police interaction does not have to be a negative one and Officer Norman is changing that one person at a time. He has changed the way he approaches the community he patrols and is committed to building strong relationships with the residents. The money raised will be used to help Officer Norman continue his mission strengthening the community. We will be purchasing and delivering items such as snacks, drinks, and toys for him to keep his trunk stocked for the kids and members of the community. We are The Robin Hood Project!!!”
On Monday, The Game shared details about the crowdfunding campaign on Instagram:
“Good afternoon, So as I told you yesterday, I had conversations with my oldest song [Harlem] about good cops [and] bad ones [and] he did his research [and] found officer [Norman’s] page [and] I was touched by how active he is in the black community where he polices. My son said, how does he help all of these kids [and] stuff, is he rich??? I said I don’t know if he’s rich but sometimes it doesn’t take much to help those in need, son… Being that my son is on vacation with his mom visiting relatives in Atlanta, Arkansas, [and] Louisiana he wanted to do something for officer [Norman] in Little Rock so he developed a [GoFundMe] to try [and] raise $50,000.”
Since its launch, the campaign has surpassed its initial goal of $50,000 and is sitting at $68,000. The rapper revealed that the funds would go towards Officer Norman’s continuous efforts to contribute toys and food to kids in the Little Rock area.
