Flow Hive the unsuspecting rewards-based crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo that stands as the largest ever for the platform, has now shipped to all backers of the project. While stories persist regarding delays and “failures to deliver” for rewards crowdfunding projects, Flow Hive may now claim a solid success for both themselves and for Indiegogo.
Flow Hive raised over $13 million including more than $1 million using Indiegogo’s InDemand feature for e-commerce transactions following a campaign. The next largest Indiegogo campaign was for the Sondors eBike at less than half that amount. Flow Hive states it is now shipping to more than 100 countries around the world, and has been ordered by more than 35,000 people. Flow Hive was not cheap either with price of $599.00.
Founded by a father-son team in Australia, the project burst out of the gates on Indiegogo raising $1.9 million in 24 hours. The original target was to raise $70,000.
Flow took the process of harvesting honey to a new level by allowing beekeepers the ability to turn on the tap to capture honey. No need to open the hive and with minimal mess. In a world where technology projects drive much of the startup / crowdfunding headlines, Flow was an unlikely crowdfunding home-run. Flow Hive is now available for shipping in just 5 days. Price is now $699.
