Brief: Kickstarter Opens Doors For Hong Kong & Singapore Project Creators

On Tuesday, crowdfunding giant Kickstarter announced Hong Kong and Singapore project creators may now launch campaigns on its funding portal. This news comes nearly one month after the Kickstarter team revealed their plans for the two countries.

Counting Singapore and Hong Kong, Kickstarter is officially available in 20 countries, including the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Spain. Last year alone, the funding portal debuted campaigns from Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, and Switzerland.

Singapore SkylineOver 11 million backers, from every continent on earth, have pitched in funds towards a Kickstarter project and have raised over $2.5 million. There have been over 110,067 successfully funded projects on the global platform. Backers from Hong Kong and Singapore have reportedly pledged over 300,000 times to more than 40,000 projects around the world.

Last month, Amazon Launchpad launched its own Kickstarter Collection this week, which features over 300 projects that have been funded on the website. Such projects include Piper, Zivix, Prynt, and MudWatt. Customers of the Kickstarter Collection may browse through a variety of categories, which includes Electronics, Wireless Accessories, Home & Kitchen, Books, Movies & TV, and Toys & Games, as well as themes such as STEM Products, Always Be Learning, Exquisite Objects, Inventing The Future, and Public Benefit.
