Earlier this week, Kickstarter alum Pebble announced software and shipping updates for its recent products, the Pebble 2, Time 2, and Pebble Core. Earlier this summer, the company secured over $12,779,843 from 66,673 backers through its third Kickstarter campaign, which launched to raise $1 million for its new products, Pebble 2, Time 2, and Pebble Core. Each device offers new ways for users to enjoy the company’s famous technology.
Each of the devices offers users Pebble’s unique technology:
Pebble 2: Offers up an upgraded version of Pebble that includes a sleep tracker and an uncompromising heart rate monitor.- Time 2: Described as a premium heart rate enabled stainless steel smartwatch with an updated color display.
- Pebble Core: For runners, it is a flippable fitness device that lets users leave their phones at home. For hackers, it is a keychain company that becomes a “magic button for anything” (i.e. call Uber, monitor pets, stream data from car ODB port). It is known as ultra-compact, ultra-lightweight, and ultra-affordable.
In the latest update, the Pebble team shared the Pebble 4.0 Software and mobile now live and public:
“In addition to revamping Health, Timeline, and the overall Pebble interface from the ground up, Pebble 4.0 is the first version of our operating system and apps that can support Pebble 2 and Time 2 when reward watches start arriving on backers’ wrists. Thank you to everyone on the team that helped us cross this goalpost and to those in the Pebble community who helped us beta test new features!”
The crew also noted the current users can now update their Pebble apps to 4.0 through Google Play and iTunes App Store. Pebble, Time, Time Steel, and Time Round users may also update their watches to 4.0 through the Pebble app.
In regards to shipping, the team went on to note that the first Pebble 2 Kickstarter rewards will begin shipping during the last week of September (this month!). The company will ship Pebble 2, Time 2 and Core worldwide, with the exception of Argentina, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Myanmar/Burma, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
Pebble’s second campaign is currently the most funded on the crowdfunding giant’s platform while its first campaign is the fourth most funded.
